Alrighty. I've been tagged by both Nicole and Alicia, so I suppose I'd better comply and list 6 weird things about myself.
Okay, here it goes:
1. I can't stick my hand into cold, standing water. There is something about it that just creeps me out. When we were younger, my sister and I alternated doing the dishes every night. We had this little indoor grill we often used to grill chicken, and it was our worst enemy. I always hated it when I was the unfortunate one who had to clean it. In order to get it clean, we had to soak it in water overnight, so by the time we had to clean it, the water was cold. I just thought it was the most disgusting thing in the world, and in order to avoid having to stick my hand into the water to unplug the drain, I would actually pay my sister a dollar to do it for me. She didn't mind at all and thought I was a total sucker, but I probably would have paid $20 dollars to avoid that terrible task. I am the same today, and my disdain has spread to the sponge as well. I can't stand it when people don't wring out the sponge, and it just sits there engorged with cold water. Ugh...
2. When I'm completely comfortable, I rub my feet together. I've done it for as long as I can remember, and I have no idea why I do it. When I was younger, my sister used to yell at me for doing it if she was sitting anywhere near me while I was doing it. It was probably her greatest pet peeve.
3. I always loved going to school. I somehow managed to always be teacher's pet without being an annoying nerd (at least, I think). Although I did one incredibly nerdy thing in 6th grade: I begged my teacher to assign us a project where we had to write about some country in the world other than the U.S. just because I wanted to learn more about Ancient Egypt. My best friend and I spent hours in the library researching everything we could about the daily life of the Ancient Egyptians, including what they wore for makeup (of course). We created numerous visual displays and conducted an oral presentation. We were so proud of ourselves. okay, my classmates probably hated me for that one, but I didn't care. I'm still always excited to learn about ANYTHING.
4. This one is really embarrassing: I sing to my cats. They all have their own little song, and they're all totally stupid and ridiculous. But hey, they can't understand me anyway, and my husband just cracks up.
5. I am afraid of the band Supertramp. I can't explain this one, but if they ever come on the radio or anything, I have to run away. Seriously. I particularly hate their song, "The Logical Song." It creeps me out. I went to see the movie Magnolia in the theater, and there's a scene where that song is playing in the background. I couldn't run out of the theater like I wanted, so I just plugged my ears and quietly hummed through the scene.
6. I'm usually quite chatty, but you can always tell when I either need to eat or get to a restroom because I suddenly become silent. I'm only aware of this because people have told me about it, otherwise I would have no idea anything I act differently.
I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you'd like to participate, please do. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you do, and I'll link to it.
