We got there right after it opened on a gorgeous, warm, cloudless Saturday and found the place nearly empty. It was perfect. I'm not a fan of crowds, so I don't make a habit of frequenting fairs, but we got free admission and couldn't resist the opportunity to take little J on such a sublime day. To top it off, someone handed us free ride tickets as soon as we got onto the fairgrounds. Dealing with the crowds that quickly amassed was worth it just to feel the pure joy little J was experiencing while riding the carousel. It is not an exaggeration to say I was overcome with how happy he was, fighting back tears as I looked into his beaming face.
