Our plans for the day fell through due to a torrential downpour, but I was actually relieved. We put buckets under the ceiling in our dining room where water was choosing to pour through rather than down the roof and into the gutters like respectable rainfall, and I hunkered down to do some baking.
Frosted sugar cookies, chocolate crinkle cookies, failed spritz cookies followed by successful fudge - all in a day's work. I'm still recovering from a knock down, drag out cold and didn't expect this day of baking to take such a toll on me, but somewhere around the middle of the day I found myself settling in for a short winter's nap that gave me the boost I needed to get the job done. I did, however, have a lot of help. The dog kindly licked up anything I dropped to the floor, while little J licked up what didn't make it to the floor.
